The 18th Festivaletteratura, Italy’s most important literary festival, will be held from 3-7 September in Mantova (Mantua). This year’s programme features two translation slams. The first, on Thursday 4 September at 10h30 (event no. 15), will see Matteo Colombo, author of the new Italian translation of Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, join with his colleague Anna Rusconi in a comparison of his work with the 1961 translation by the late Adriana Motti. The slam will be moderated by Italian translator Isabella Zani.

In the second slam, on Friday 5 September at 10h45 (event no. 69), translators Elena Chiti and Ramona Ciucani will join the Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti in discussing their respective translations from Arabic into Italian of two of his poems.
