De 42nd annual Poetry International Festival (http://www NULL.poetryinternationalweb NULL.net/), ‘a festive stage for world poetry’, will take place in Rotterdam from 14 until 19 June. ‘Without translators our festival would simply be impossible,’ say the organizers of the festival, at which poets from a number of countries will read from their work. Apart from poetry readings the festival program provides a number of discussions and presentations on translating poetry, both for professional translators and readers interested in translation-related issues.
The main feature of the translation programme is a symposium on translating poetry on 15 June, at which poetry translators share their professional approaches and opinions with the audience. At the close of the symposium the two-yearly Brockway Prize for the best poetry translator from Dutch will be presented to Francisco Carrasquer Launed. All activities of the translation programme will be in Dutch. More information in Dutch (http://www NULL.poetry NULL.nl/read/event/id/117394) and English (http://www NULL.poetryinternationalweb NULL.net/) is available on the website.
