The Slovenian Association of Literary Translators (http://www NULL.dskp-drustvo NULL.si/) has awarded the 2016 Sovre Prize to the famous Slovenian translator Lijana Dejak for her translation of the novel Laurus by the Russian author Jevgenij Vodolazkin. The translation was published by Cankarjeva založba in 2015.
The Sovre Prize, named after Anton Sovre (1885-1963), a Slovenian philologist and translator, is Slovenia’s main award for literary translations. The award is worth 3,000 euros and includes feature on the winning translator in the main newspapers, and interviews on national radio and television. The winning translator usually becomes a member of the jury for the following year’s Sovre Prize.
