In cooperation with the Slovak Society of Translators of Scientific and Technical Literature and the Literary Fund, the Slovak Literary Translators’ Society organized the Translation Summer School on October 26-27, 2012. The event was held in Pezinok with the theme Is Translation in Slovakia in Critical Condition? A modus vivendi and modus operandi in the European Cultural Space. Well-known Slovak translators, translation theorists, university teaching staff, linguists and literary researchers provided lectures for translators and people working in publishing.

On October 27th, a roundtable was also held entitled  How to achieve better conditions for artistic translation in Europe.  Lecturers informed participants on the CEATL initiatives and also presented recommendations, which came out of the Petra 2011 congress.  One of the ‘hot’ topics was the education of literary translators.  A presentation of recent research in the area of education of translators implemented by CEATL generated significant interest and discussion.
