12 Jun, 2014

On 7 June 2014, during the traditional Garden Party at the Hungarian Translators’ House, Balatonfüred’s mayor István Bóka announced the launch of a new translators’ scholarship for Serbian literary translators under 35 whose translation or essay works convey the literary and cultural heritage of Hungary to Serbian-language readers.

The award is funded jointly by the municipality of Balatonfüred, the Hungarian Translators’ House, and the Béla Hamvas Society, to commemorate Sava Babić, a Serbian scholar of Hungarian studies and honorary citizen of Balatonfüred who translated the chief works of classical and contemporary Hungarian literature into Serbian.
