On January 14th, the Deutscher Übersetzerfonds  (https://www NULL.uebersetzerfonds NULL.de/)celebrated the launch of the new website Babelwerk (https://babelwerk NULL.de/), a new digital platform hosting all kinds of information and current debates on literary translation. Babelwerk is designed to be a digital think tank and a meeting place for the voices of literary translators in Germany and abroad.

Babelwerk is the result of one year’s work financed by the Deutscher Übersetzerfonds and the national program Neustart Kultur.

Babelwerk comprises three sections:

Konterbande Magazine presents essays on poetological and socio-political subjects around literary translation. Foreign correspondents also report on international debates. The constantly growing Translation ABC will publish articles by translators on relevant key words.

The Handwerk section is a library of links and link lists around literary translation.

The Babelkat section is a bibliography of translation knowledge to which partners such as Counterpoint/Contrepoint will make their archives accessible. It will also include podcasts, translation postfaces and journals kept by translators relating to their projects.

The Babelwerk website is launching with an impressive number of contributions and will continue to expand.
