BooksinItaly is the first website for the promotion worldwide of Italian publishing, language and culture. The website, available in Italian and English, is intended for Italian and foreign publishers, literary agents, translators, Italianists, Italian Cultural Institutes and Italians abroad and offers book reports accompanied by translated samples. It also includes analyses, interviews and news about the latest releases and the main protagonists of the Italian publishing industry, as well as information on grants and translation prizes.
The core of the project is to create an international network connecting the different actors in the Italian publishing world: publishers, literary agents, scouts, Italianists and translators. For this goal, BooksinItaly is collecting information on literary translators from Italian to other languages in order to create an online database.
The initiative is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and the Centre for Books and Reading, in collaboration with the Italian Publishers Association, in partnership with Expo 2015, and supported by Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan and the Fondazione Cariplo. The website is part of a project coordinated by the Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori.
