The main topics will be the current situation of literary and audio-visual translators, a presentation of the results of an extensive survey, experience with negotiating a framework license agreement and licensing conditions, and presentation of tips for working with the membership base of professional organizations. The conference will be opened by His Excellency Robert Kvile, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Czech Republic.
The event will take place on Friday, 29 April in the Prague StartUp Centre (Pražská tržnice – Hall 24; Bubenské nábřeží 306/13, Prague 7). Admission is free and there is no need to register. The conference will be recorded and the videos of all the papers will be available online later.

The international conference is one of the highlights of the Capacity Development of Czech Literary Translators’ Organizations project financed by the EEA Grants 2014–2021. Within the project, there have already been a series of professional workshops for translators (copyright, negotiation, business skills, self-presentation) and management training for leading translation professional organizations, plus a round table with publishers and extensive mapping of fees and licensing conditions of Czech literary translators. In the summer, a campaign is planned to raise the profile of literary translators and the importance of their work. The project is coordinated by the Czech Translators of the North; its Czech partners are the Union of Interpreters and Translators (https://www NULL.jtpunion NULL.org/en/) and the Czech Literary Translators’ Guild (http://obecprekladatelu NULL.cz/).
