3 Jun, 2022

Literature Ireland (https://www NULL.literatureireland NULL.com/), the national agency for the promotion of Irish literature abroad, has an opportunity for literary translators who translate into Spanish, Bulgarian, Polish or French and are interested in learning more about Irish literature in translation.

After a successful series of workshops in 2021, Literature Ireland is pleased to announce another set of summer translation workshops which aim to help practising and aspiring translators of Irish literature fine-tune their skills through a series of classes with expert tutors and practitioners.

The tutors for the Spanish workshops are Matías Battistón, a literary translator and lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires, and Jorge Fondebrider, a poet, translator and active promoter of Irish culture in Latin America.

The tutors for the Bulgarian workshops are Mirela Hristova, a multilingual literary translator and director of AMAT-AH Publishing in Sofia, and Iglika Vassileva, the acclaimed translator of James Joyce’s Ulysses as well as the prose of many other distinguished writers.

The tutors for the Polish workshops are Michał Lachman, a lecturer in English and Irish Drama at the University of Łódź, and Aga Zano, a literary translator who has published over fifty books into Polish, including Apeirogon by Colum McCann.

The tutors for the French workshops are Marie Hermet, a literary translator and teacher of creative writing and translation at the Université de Paris, and Clíona Ní Ríordáin, a translator and Professor of English at the Sorbonne Nouvelle.

More information on the workshops and tutors as well as feedback from the 2021 workshops can be found here: https://bit.ly/38gFAzY (https://bit NULL.ly/38gFAzY?fbclid=IwAR1kvkzQU44Ynrn2PL33oMezrnwsNu46wFLlI9OYWzuQ6_mEslVWrhs03OE)

Places are limited to a maximum of 12 people per course. The subsidised cost of the programme is €185. There is a discounted rate of €125 for students, and we are open to considering requests for funded places on a case by case basis.
